On May 12, 2008, an 8.0-magnitude earthquake struck Sichuan. Thousands of people lost their lives and even more people were left homeless. But, hand in hand, the Chinese people faced this disaster with compassion and courage.People across China offered to make donations energetically. Relief materials and funds were continuously pouring into quake hit areas. What’s more, several rescue teams and medical professionals, at home and abroad, was sent to the earthquake stricken areas to search and rescue the survivals.
As far as we students are concerned, we should provide our helping hands for the earthquake stricken compatriots. We can donate our spare money to the suffering people who are in urgent need of food and medicine. Blood donation is also of vital significance for those injured people. Students who are equipped with professional skills can volunteer to the earthquake stricken areas to rescue more lives. On the afternoon of May 12th, 2008, an earthquake, with a magnitude of 8.0 on the Richter scale, broke out in Wenchuan, leaving the region with ruins. In addition, at the same time, a lot of people were in a panic and were at a loss. Immediately, the sad news went the rounds.
The whole nation provided a response as soon as they can. Upon the striking of the disaster ,the Chinese communists had quickly organized rescue operations. For example, PLA men rushed to wenchuan to rescue the victims , facing the high risk of amid after shocks and giving the victims not only help but also the hope for living. More and more volunteers covering a long distance helped to transport food and drug around the clock , exhausted but happy. As for other Chinese
citizen, everyone was doing his bit to donate food, clothing, money, even blood and organs.
What happened to China in the aftermath of the massive earthquake proves that there are no limitations to what the boundless love of the Chinese nation could accomplish. Love can conquer everything.

a strong earthquake struck wenchuan, sichuan province on may 12, 2008. people in disaster-stricken area have suffered a lot. misery of losing home as well as family members have thrown them into deep sorrow. seeing the photos on the internet and newspapers, i kept asking myself, “what can i do to help them lessen their burden?”
like many other classmates, i’ve donated all the money i save and i’ve also given away many books and stationary in order to help those children who now aren’t able to go to school. besides, i’ve written some letters to the kids at my age, trying to encourage them and cheer them up.
blood is thicker than water. though the earthquake is merciless, people in every corner of our country are all eager to give a helping hand. i strongly believe that where there is love, there is a way. hand in hand, heart with heart, we chinese people shall overcome all the difficulties and brand new homes shall be rebuilt soon.
