Ok every one now we have already entered the world famous Changbai mountain national nature preserve. Now I will give you a brief Introduction about Changbai mountain nature preserve.

Changbai mountain nature preserve was built in 1960s ,and joint the International protection web of man and Biosphere in 1980s and listed as the world nature reserve. In 1986s it was listed as the national forest and Wild animal nature preserve. Than it was chosen to be the four-A standards' travel spot in the year of 2000

The Changbai mountain nature preserve aims to protect the natural environment and forestry ecosystem whose centre is the famous Tianchi lake as its core .The whole area locate within Jilin Province's three counties named Antu ,Fusong, and Changbai, and its southeast is beside the DPRK . The total area is 196,465 hectares, it is the best preserve area with the most abundant species of the wilds plants and, most ecosystem among the nature preserved at the same latitude on the Earth; it is the typical representative of the Europe continent the Northern Hemisphere ecosystem. In the area there are 2540 species of wild plants and 1508 kinds of animals, among which are 364 kinds of vertebrate and 780 are insects.

Ladies and Gentlemen, we all know that Changbai Mountain is a dormant volcano and it has erupted for three times from the 16th century till now ,the first time was in the August of 1597 ,the other two being the April of 1688 and the April of 1702. Changbai Mountain has a varied

topography and complex natural environment .with the increasing of elevation from bottom to the top of the mountain, the climate soil and creature can be divided into four vertical plant belts with clear boundaries .there are the mixed forest belt of coniferous trees and broadleaf trees at the elevation between 500 to 1000 meters above the sea level. Coniferous tree belt with the elevation between 1000 to 1700 meters, mountainous birch belt which locates at an elevation from 1700 to 2000 meters and mountainous tundra belt distribute above 2000 meters.

Ok everyone we are standing on the volcanic area that surround the Tianchi Lake of the Changbai mountain .look this , the most beautiful scenery here –so it is called heaven pond. it locates on the top of the volcanic cone of the highest peak .the shape of the lake is oval and is similar to that of a fallen leaf .Actually this lake is formed naturally after the volcanic eruption .it spans 4400s from south to north and 3370 meters from east to west, with the depth of 373 meters at its lowest point .The lake water surface of Heaven lake is about 2189.1 meters above the sea level, its total water capacity is 2.01 billion cubic meters.

The heaven lake only has the water outlet but no inlet, an temperature is lower during the whole year and the average water temperature is below 7 degree, and at the same time the lake is the highest mountainous lake

above the sea level, the deepest lake with regard to its water content and the boundary lake of china and DPRK.

Around the Changbai Mountain there are 16 peaks,

West to the Tianchi Lake slightly north， the horizontal distance of 1260 meters to the Liming mountain is the White clouds peak of elevation 2,691 meters which it is the highest mountain in the Northeast. the next one is north to east of the Tianchi lake the horizontal distance of 325 meters to the White clouds peak is the Tianwen peak, to the west of the Tianwen peak , the horizontal distance of 1750 meters is the Long men peak ,whose elevation is 2595 meters.

Everybody what we are going to see is the Changbai Mountain’s hot spring zone,

The Changbai Mountain hot spring zone is located from 900 meters, to the Changbai Mountain waterfall ,its hard to believe that there are tens of springs concentrated in this 1000 square meter area .The spring's temperature is different from each other ,the average temperature is between 60 degree to 80 degree，In addition，The hot spring also has greate medical value that it can be used to cure many diseases .

Now we are staying at the “small Tianchi Lake”

The saying of a lake beast prevailing for along time which in addition make the lake more attractive .whether the beast exists or not needs further investigation but if today we are lucky enough, we may watch a sight on that beast .there is also one gap between Tianwen peak and Long men peak in the north of the lake .the water spills out here and flows 1250 meters north wards along side the Tian river and drops from the rift suddenly, it is a great of momentum. Thus the waterfall which has 68 meters drops is formed and it is called the fall of Changbai Mountain, it is also the Source of the Songhua River.

Which is also called the lake of the ring. it has a circumference of 260 meters and a total area of 5000 square meters the depth of the lake is about and the water there is perpetual .

Generally speaking forest should grow on the ground but it is strange that a forest grew under the cliff of the mountain here .this is the so–called “underground forest” ,but the towering old trees make the mountain range tobe an attractive green world.

To the north of Heavenly Lake there exists an exit for the Chengcha River. Running gently for about 1,200 meters (0.74 miles), the river suddenly becomes a churning rapids and drops from a 68 meters (223 ft) high cliff. This is the famous Changbai Waterfall, the highest volcanic waterfall in the world. Watching it from far away, the waterfall appears like a white ribbon suspended in midair. As you approach it, you can hear the loud roar and feel the chilliness of the waterfall.(walk about 15minutes)

Less than 2 kilometers (1.24 miles) away from Changbai Waterfall lie the Changbai Hot Springs. With a special chemical composition inside, the rocks around the hot springs have been dyed many bright colors. Most of the hot springs have temperatures over 60 C ; the highest is 82 C . Hot Spring Eggs have become a special local product. Visitors can bathe in the hot springs, which are very effective for some ailments, such as arthritis, dermatosis and exhaustion.
