I. Introduction
Reading makes a full man conference a ready man and writing an exact man. We got a lot of fun from reading. Reading could not only eich our minds but also entertain the souls.
In the short term, by reading the short stories of the famous worldwide writers like Ernest Hemingway, Edgar, Allan Poe, Mark twain, I got a better understanding about them.
II.Comments on the Stories
Simple words and common stories feature largely in the novels of Ernest Hemingway. But it is not difficult to find that, only by pondering could we uncover the truth hidden by the appearance of the brief words. For example, A Clean Well -Lighted Place, in this story there are no complicated words, no magnificent sentences and even no attracting plots. But it was the simple story reveals the nada of life. An old man, who wants to drive away the loneliness, always drinks in the bar. Two waiters, one is young and newly married, hurried to go home every night. The other one, who is older, along could feel sympathy and understand the old man. The depressing and gloomy setting, the vivid characters and the arrangement of the plot even the refined words make the theme clearly .People would like to get rid of the nada of life. They need communication, they want understanding and they hate loneliness.
While Edgar Allan Poe who was well known for his short stories, wrote about seventy stories which fall into two categories: those of mystery and horror; and those of ratiocination, which might be said to have set the standard for the modern detective stories. The Tell Tale Heart, one of Edgar Allan Poe?s most famous short stories, is a psychological portrait of a mad narrator who kills a man and aferterward hears his victim?s relentless heartbeat.
At the very beginning, the plot of the story: “True! Nervous, very, very dreadfully nervous I had been and I am.” Attracts the reader?s heart and fixes our eyes on the next plots. The narrator told us such a story that is how a guy planned and killed an old man but finally ,he was defeated by himself .In the whole story, a large number of psychological description created a terroristic atmosphere .The weird and exciting content shocked us again but the beautiful words feast our eyes.
However Mark Twain is an outstanding humorist and satirist. H wrote many volumes during his long life time .In his later years ,he began to focus on human greed ,cruelty and questioned the humanity of the human race ,one of his most famous stories “Is He Living or Dead?? include several obvious themes .First , the riches are cold and detached and crazy about the luxury. Second, the relationship between the sacrifice and rewards. Third, the great importance of the medium?s function. The whole passage developed around the three themes which acted the important clues. Finally, it reflected Mark Twain?s humorous and ironic writing style.
Young Goodman Brown was written by Nathaniel Hawthorne who was an
American novelist and short story writer in the 19th century, born in Salem, Massachusetts as Nathaniel Hawthorne He was greatly influenced by Puritanism, Transcendentalism and Mysticism, which can be traced in his works. Much of Hawthorne?s writing centers on New England and many feature moral allegories with a Puritan inspiration. His fiction works are considered part of the Romantic Movement. His themes often centers on the inherent evil and sin of humanity and his works often have moral messages and deep psychological complexity.
The narrator illustrated the story though Brown?s travel in the dark forest. He adopted the expressing way of symbolism to show his ideas, For example, the themes, characters and the setting. The story happened on one night .Faith was scared of nights: please put off your journey until suise and sleep in your own bed tonight ,a love woman is troubled with such dreams and such thoughts that she?s afraid of herself sometimes. Pray tarry with me this night, dear, husband, of all nights in the year. But Brown replied,?? of all nights in the year ,this one night must I tatty away from you ,my journey, as you called it forth and back again ,must need be done between now and suise .the dark nights made Brown tarry away with faith and believing . In the literary works, the dark nights were always connected to guilty, mystery, hell and so on .The Christians chose days to go to the churches and expressed their wills to kindness. Well how was the travel in the evening? Brown? purposes of the dark night?s travel were not clear at first. But with the appearance of the guide and his unveiled identity, he found it was a ?evil? discover of his ancestors and so called the loyal Christians. The ?evils? conflicts with the ?kindness?. So he could only proceed in the dark nights. In fact, plenty of words used to describe the ?black? also created a kind of gloomy atmosphere for his lost hopes life. So many years passed but millions of readers appreciate his works all the time.
OscaWilde(1854~1900)was an Irish essayist ,playwright ,novelist ,fairytale ,writer and poet .Known for his biting wit ,he became one of the most successful playwrights of late Victorian and one of the greatest celebrities of his day . In 1888, he published “The Happy Prince and other tales, fairy-stories written for his two sons .It is most famous for the Happy Prince, the short tale of a metal statue who becomes friends with a migratory bird together then bring some happiness to others in life and in death.
After reading the story, I was shocked by the small swallow and the prince, because of selfless and sacrifice .And they are worth of respectation .In our real life, Leifeng, a model for the people of our party and the people?s army is an outstanding one, he lines to serve the people as the greatest happiness.
The next story I read was Eve line, written by James Joyce .He is an Irish novelist, noted for his experimental use of language in such works as Finnegan?s Wake (1939) .Eve line is taken from his works Dubliners, written in 1905.The theme of this collection is the numb situation of Dubliners .The heroine of this novel is Eve line, who leads such kind of numb living. She works in a shop and almost everyone can order her to do things, at home she lives together with her ill-tempered father, however she has no courage to go away with her lover to have a new life.
In this story, the themes shows that Old orders of life, the desire for dreams must
be destroyed by the cruel reality, if the Irish wants spiritual emancipation, they must deny the degenerate traditions completely. It also worked as a warning .And in Joyce?s technical innovations in the art of the novel include an extensive use of interior monologue; he used a complex network of symbolic parallels drawn from the mythology, history, and literature and created a unique language of invented words, puns and allusions.
The final story I read was Alice Walker?s ?Every day use for your grandmamma? Alice Walker is one of the most remarkable and influential Afro go-American writers in contemporary American literary world .She is one of the majority of critics .As a black woman ,writer ,her background provides the sources of her work ,especially work describing colored people?s life .
The modern classic ?Every day use for your grandmamma? tells the story of a mother and her two daughters?complexing ideas about their identities and ancestry .the mother narrates the story of the day one daughter,Dee,visites from college and clashes with the other daughter ,Maggie ,over the possession of the some heirloom quilts . The quilts in the story are symbolized as the African American culture heritages .By presenting the two daughters? means of treating the quilts in the story .Walker reveals different attitudes on these heritages, which to some extend were confused by black people in America. T he theme of the story spoke highly of the loyalty of protecting mother and Maggie?s own identity and cultural tradition ,but condemn Dee, a traitor of his people?s belief . Meanwhile the author came forward the idea that the culture of the black and white should be treated equally and the two need to be merged, and then contribute greatly to the civilization. III.Conclusion
At last , after reading the seven short stories, it made me believe I got a travel for centuries, I can truly touched the hearts of the famous writers, and enjoy the charm of the literature. Reading could broaden one?s eyes and mode a person?s temperate, I would be enthusiastic about literature in my further study.

With the effort that the several generations of Chinese American writers have made, the Chinese American literature has drawn more attention from all lines of American people. More and more scholars start studying and analyzing the literary works created by the Chinese American writers. The impact that is caused by these works has spread in the United States. And the Chinese American literature has not gained only the recognition in the US, but also well-known in the world literature.
A great many Chinese American writers have made their contributions to Chinese American literature, among which Jade Snow Wong is considered to be the mother of Chinese American literature whose representative novel is Chinese Daughter (1945). The book was written in the third person narration, and it tells the writer's own life. Though born in San Francisco, Jade Snow Wong was brought up in the Chinese family that kept the traditional Chinese customs. Hoping to be somebody in the future and making the family glorious, the Chinese family paid more attention to the children's education and Jade Snow also had her own desire to learn. Jade Snow graduated from Mills College in 1942 by hard working after class. She worked as a secretary during World War II, and discovered a talent for ceramics. When she began to sell her art crafts in a shop in a Chinatown, it quickly found popularity. Jade Snow holds the
idea that Chinese culture should be immerged into American culture and the Chinese Americans should also be recognized as typical American citizens. All of which has been expressed in Fifth Chinese Daughter, her autobiographical novel. As an autobiographical work, the plot of the novel represents a true life of the Chinese Americans during that period, which reflects the process of being successful for an ordinary Chinese American girl, and her way to form Chinese Americans' positive images by her hard-working.

《英语课程标准》指出：学生的发展是英语课程的出发点和归宿。英语课程在目标设定、教学过程、课程评价和教学资源的开发等方面都要突出以学生为主体的思想。 笔者认为，树立“对话”意识，运用新课程理念备好课是基础和前提。
一、与教材对话：源于教材，高于教材
每一套教材都代表着某一种教学理念和实践方法，教师在使用一套新教材之时，应站在编者的角度钻研全套教材，努力理解和领会教材编写者的教学思想和设计精神，把握教材的特点，使之在我们的教学中得以充分体现。与教材对话，首先要尊重教材，读透教材；与教材对话，更要超越教材，走向生活。我们不妨尝试“一课三案”：钻研教材，独立思考，形成“初案”；博采众长，融会贯通，写出“教案”；课后反思，精益求精，补充“另案”。
江苏版的《牛津小学英语》教材按照话题——功能——结构的体例编写，在备课时，我们可着力于话题生活化，功能结构协调化。在“初案”中，我们应该重点研读教材，明确教学语言与语境语言，把握关键语句与困难语句；在“教案”形成阶段，我们应分析语用因素，结合师情学情，选择设计各环节活动：课后，结合教学实际再回头看自己的教材解读，及时补充“另案”必不可少。“另案”中，可以反思一节课对教材处理的成功之举、败笔之处、学生感受，当然，对教材的“再教设计”是最终目的。我们对教材的研读应该追求从“有它无我”到“有它有我”，最后达到“有我无它”的洒脱境界。
二、与学生对话：关注学情，真心真意
学生是学习的主人，我们的“教”应该为学生的“学”服务。在备课时，教师还应该时时在心中与学生对话，在与学生充分对话的基础上进行的备课活动才能真正体现学生的学习主体地位。
“你对这个话题了解了多少?”——牛津小学英语每一个单元都有一个话题。在我们设计新单元的教学时，这个问题可以提示我们尊重学生的已有经验，关注学生的学习基础，在学生已知已会的基础之上设计教学内容，把属于学生的时间还给学生。
“通过这节课你将学到什么?你是怎么学的?还可以学得更好吗?”——新课程呼唤我们的教学从知识本位回归到三维目标。这一连串问题指向的就是一节课中知识与技能、方法与过程、情感态度与价值观的目标达成。长期以来，我们的英语教学一直比较关注学生对英语知识的掌握情况，忽略了学生学习过程中的感受及体验。其实，真正的有效教学就是要让学生从浅层次的“学会”上升到“会学”与“乐学”，这样的学习才会让学生的终身学习获益。 在备课过程中，我们还要结合教材内容。预设大量的与学生的对话。在这个过程中，我们要注意与学生的对话交流必须付出真心真情。教师真心真意对待学生，才能让孩子们之间真心真意，课堂才会真实。这些年的英语教学实践证明，我们已经从期待表演的、热闹的、师生对答如流的课堂转变为期待真实的课堂和真实的交流。真实的教学问题、自然的教学过程、和谐的教学氛围才能最大程度地促进学生综合语言运用能力的形成。
三、与自己对话：勤于反思，勇于实践
作为教师，我们是否有勇气常常与自己对话，反思自己教学实践过程中的不足并及时加以弥补呢?叶澜先生曾经说过：“一个教师写一辈子教案不一定成为名师，如果一个教师写三年反思可能成为名师。”
在备课及上课的过程中我们是不是可以常常问自己三个问题：“这节课应该怎么上?”——在分析教材，研透学情的基础上“知其然”；“这节课为什么要这样上?”——站在英语教学理论的高度分析教材教法，“知其所以然”方能掌握规律，举一反三；“这节课还可以怎么上?”——教学是一门遗憾的艺术，加强反思，及时提升。“知其未尽然”才能将遗憾变为自我发展的动力。
有位英语教学专家曾总结过小学英语课堂教学的主要特征：语言是有声的，所以课堂教
学是听和说的体验：语言是有形的，所以课堂教学是读和写的体验；语言是有情的，所以课堂教学是情感交流的体验。我们在备课时亦可结合自己每一节课的教学设计自问：我们的课堂有声、有形、有情吗?我们的学生有思、有感、有收获吗?
在小学英语教学中，教师的语言、教师的教育理念、备课设计都对学生的兴趣、动机和认识水平产生直接的影响。教学要努力实现以学生为主体，给予学生选择的机会、创造的机会，发挥学生的自主性和能动性，首先就要从备课人手，通过备课过程中的“三对话”落实新课程理念，切实提高备课质量。
